The project "Anke Djé, Anke Bé" is presented by the students of the North-West University in Potchefstroom (MASARA section), to teach drumming to kids with intellectual disabilities.
"Anke Djé, Anke Bé" is a call to come together and unite. The phrase has been shortened over time, and the word "djembe" was born.
Djembe drums is prominent in this design, and the multi cultured ethnicity of the students and learners is also emphasized.
The characters and drums has been hand drawn and converted into an electronic format.
This was such an enjoyable project. As with all illustrations, it felt more like play than like work!
